Search and rescue operations at a half-destroyed six-story apartment building in Davenport, Iowa, officially ended Monday after the bodies of three people were found, officials said.
The decision to end the search and rescue was made after workers determined that there were no other victims in the building after the only three victims were found. Davenport Police Chief Jeff Bradell said Monday that the body of Daniel Prien, 60, was found in the rubble early Monday morning and that of Ryan Hitchcock, 51, on Sunday. rice field. Officials say the remains of the six-story apartment complex are in danger of total collapse.
The footage shows five support braces leaning against the wall, with the one closest to the camera gradually bending.
The support braces are consistent with those identified in the May 23 Structural Engineers Report’s instructions, which called for braces to be installed to support and secure the brick façade. The report, released by the City of Davenport, was compiled by a private engineer who accompanied city inspectors on a building visit earlier this year.

Surveillance video obtained by CNN shows part of the brick façade collapsing, bending the supporting braces.
A few days before part of the building collapsed, inspectors noticed that the brick façade had separated from the interior walls and was “in a state of imminent collapse,” according to a letter from one engineer.
“Brick façades are unlikely to be preserved intact, but can be demolished in a safe and controlled manner,” the engineer said in a May 24 letter. The inner walls of a building in downtown Davenport also appear to be losing stability, “causing deformation,” engineers say.
A repair permit was issued the same day, according to City of Davenport records. A site visit on May 25 confirmed that restoration work had begun.

Engineers reported that the brick façade had peeled away from the building’s interior walls days before the collapse.
And on May 27, the day before the collapse, a 911 caller told dispatchers that a section of the building’s wall was “bulging,” citing 911 audio obtained Friday by the Quad City Times. reported.
Tony Benke, who works with a nonprofit focused on improving the city’s central business district, called 911 this afternoon and said he learned about the wall from one of his employees.
“One of my men works there. I was cleaning in the back parking lot and he said the wall was sticking out. They’re fixing it,” Wenke said by phone. “Someone was working there and told me to stop because it looked ugly.”
On the phone, Mr. Wenke was told someone would check the structure.
Wenke reached out to CNN for comment from Kyle Carter, executive director of his employer, the Downtown Davenport Partnership. Carter confirmed the Quad City Times report but had no further comment.
Then, on May 28, the same section of the wall suddenly collapsed, according to CNN’s review of photos of the property released by the city.
“We want to assure the public that we are investigating,” said Davenport Mayor Mike Matson, who was contacted Monday about the 911 call the day before the collapse.
“Right now, our focus is on the families of the victims and the ongoing recovery efforts,” Matson told reporters.
