Daft Punk have released a 10th anniversary reissue of their final studio album, Random Access Memories.
An updated version of the album, first announced in February, included nine bonus tracks, many of which were unreleased demos dating back to studio sessions for the 2013 album. This unreleased track includes early demo versions of album cuts like “Get Lucky,” “Lose Yourself To Dance,” and “Give Life Back To Music.”
Also included in the bonus content is “Horizon,” a track previously only available on the original Japanese release, and an unreleased demo cut, “Infinity,” featuring vocals from Julian Casablancas of The Strokes. It is recorded.
The track was written before Daft Punk and Casablancas finally recorded “Instant Crush” together and was the final cut of the original album. The track and accompanying video debuted last night as part of a special event at the Pompidou Center in Paris.
Of “Infinity Repeating,” Casablancas said, “It’s a bit stranger than the others on the record, and chord-wise it’s more jazz-modern. It just cycles up like a pattern. Four semitones on repeat.” It’s going up step by step,” he said.
“I wanted Stevie Wonder to sing it. It has a vaguely island summer feel to it…lovely, weird, human-like, infinitely possessed and constantly repeating the same mistakes and movements.”
