Christie’s former supporter in New Hampshire wants it to be him.
Hilary Seeger, a conservative activist who supported Christie’s 2016 presidential run, said, “We absolutely need someone who is strong and optimistic. We need someone who can win the primary and the general election.”

Christie had plenty of opportunities to beat Trump in 2016 before dropping out after finishing a dismal sixth place in the New Hampshire primary, so why didn’t he do it?
Christie chalked up that performance in the primary to a “strategic error.”
“Trump said a few weeks ago: I’m your retribution. What do you guys think? No, not,” Christie said. “The only person he cares about is him, and if he didn’t know that from Election Day 2020 to today, we’re not paying attention.”
Christie also hit former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The former has done nothing more to counter Trump, while the latter has denounced his reckless forays into foreign policy.
Mr Christie said Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was not a “territorial issue” but an act of “authoritarian aggression”. And the US need not worry about getting involved in a “proxy war” with China over Ukraine, as DeSantis suggested.
But Christie has repeatedly spoken about infusing optimism and civility into politics, which these days are defined by “anger and retaliation,” even when attacking potential rivals.
And his old supporters who gathered in Manchester on Monday see it as a selling point for potential presidential candidates like Christie and New Hampshire Governor Chris Snunu.
