Feedback is just someone’s opinion, not fact. I take it calmly, not personally. Feedback is perspective and not an indication of my talents or potential. The same goes for negative news. You may also notice perspectives that you didn’t notice at first. I am grateful to learn. Feedback and press are not about me as an artist, but about the expectations of the people who are the source of both.
When it comes to auditions and potential job opportunities, I don’t view rejection as a negative. I realized I wasn’t the right fit for that particular project. that’s it. I am very happy to have reached that level of process. I am grateful. I usually send a thank you letter to the cast.
In the entertainment industry, it’s often said that there aren’t enough opportunities. Of course there are them, but they are not all directed at me. Creating the concept of competition diminishes the feeling of community that is necessary for all of us to truly feel connected and support each other in this industry. – Traci Jetta
