A brand new take on Lauren Gunderson’s award-winning comedy ‘The Book of Will’ hits UK audiences with its European premiere this year.
This playful love letter to theater is a collaboration between Octagon Theater Bolton, Queen’s Theater Hornchurch and Shakespeare North Playhouse.
Opening Thursday 27th April – Saturday 13th May at the Queen’s Theater Hornchurch, Wednesday 17th May – Saturday 3rd June at the Octagon Theater Bolton and Thursday 19th October. ) to Saturday, November 11th at the Shakespeare North Playhouse.
A total of 10 gorgeous casts have appeared.
The full cast includes: Hollyoaks stars Jessica Ellis and Helen Pearson, as well as Zach Lee (ITV’s Coronation Street, Emmerdale and the Bouncer, John Godber Company, A Christmas Carol, Hal Track). Tomi Ogvalo (Seagulls, Octagon Theater Bolton, The Wonderful World of Dissocia, Theater Royal Stratford, Jane Eyre, Stephen Joseph Theatre, New Vic).
Radio 4 favorite Carrie Quinlan (BBC Radio 4’s John Finnemore Souvenir Show, Orpheus Descending, Theater Crudo/Menier Chocolate Factory) will be on board. Russell Richardson (ITV’s Coronation Street, Halifax’s Last Tango, A View from the Bridge, Hindle Wakes, Octagon Theater Bolton); Callum Sim (ITV’s Emmerdale and Coronation Street) and Tarek Slater (The Jungle Book, Oldham Coliseum, Beauty and the Beast, The Dukes).
Completing the cast is stage and screen star Bill Ward (ITV’s Coronation Street, Emmerdale & the BBC’s EastEnders, Sleepy Hollow’s legendary UK tour, Bath Theater Royale Fell in Love). Shakespeare’s British Tour). and Andrew Whitehead (The Book Thief, Octagon Theater Bolton, A Christmas Carol, Hal Trucks).
Directed by Lotte Wakeham, Artistic Director of The Octagon, The Book of Will is a hilarious and moving take on a breathtaking race against time to collect all of Shakespeare’s works and preserve them for the ages. It’s a story.
This wonderfully witty, funny and fast-paced play tells the story of a king’s men uniting for a near-impossible plan – collecting all of Shakespeare’s plays to compile the first folio. No. A fierce race against time in 1620s London continues.
