Candid Records Announces Sweetwater Movie Soundtrack Release
The story of the first African-American basketball player to sign an NBA contract
April 14th, 2023 release of album and Briarkf Entertainment wide theatrical film
First single KEB’MO’S “Taking Me Higher” will be available on March 31, 2023
Artists such as Keb’Mo’, Gary Clark Jr., Emmaline, Larkin Poe, Dianne Reeves, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Robert Randolph are featured on the 12-track album.
(March 30, 2023) Candid Records has announced the release of the highly anticipated feature film soundtrack on April 14, 2023. sweet waterSet in 1950, the film, written and directed by Martín Guigui, tells the true story of Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton, the first African American to sign with the NBA. Newcomer Everett Osbourne plays Clifton, and the stellar cast includes Kevin Pollack, Carrie Elwes, Jeremy Piven, Richard Dreyfuss, Robert Richard, and Emaline. Also featured are Gary Clark Jr., Jim Caviezel and NBA Champion Bobby Portis Jr.
The All-Star soundtrack album is a celebration of jazz and blues, featuring a wide variety of styles. From period standards to original contemporary tracks inspired by Sweetwater Clifton’s enduring spirit and courage. Classics like “The Man I Love” and “Sweet Georgia Brown” are Emaline’s portrayal of Jeanie Staples in the film, Keb’ Mo’s “Take Me Higher” and Larkin Poe’s “Right Place”.
