At least 18 people were killed Friday after powerful storms swept across large parts of the South and Midwest.
A series of severe tornadoes came just a week after a rare, prolonged twister that killed 25 people in western Mississippi and one in Alabama.
Seven people died in McNairy County near the Mississippi border in Tennessee after bad weather, according to the Associated Press.
The Adamsville Police Department in McNairy County said on social media Saturday morning, “The damage and loss suffered by our community last night was devastating.
In Covington, Tennessee, the local police department said the tornado had left the city “impassable.” Police said homes were destroyed, power lines were cut and search and rescue teams were deployed.

Tornadoes swept through Arkansas, causing severe thunderstorms and golf-ball-sized hail.Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders Declared Declared a state of emergency and activated 100 members of the state’s National Guard in response to lethal weather.
At least four people were killed and dozens injured in the city of Wynn, in eastern Arkansas, Cross County Coroner Eli Long told KAIT-TV.

A series of storms, including tornadoes and baseball-sized hail, also devastated Illinois. In Belvidere, a city northwest of Chicago, the roof of Apollo’s theater collapsed, killing one person and injuring 28 others.
About 260 people were at the venue to attend the heavy metal concert, but the calls about the collapse started coming in at 7:48 p.m. local time, Belvidere Fire Chief Sean Shadl told AP.

Three people were killed in a tornado in Sullivan County, Indiana, AP reported.
“Our worst fears came true when we learned that a member of our community had lost his life,” Sullivan County Sheriff Jason Bobbitt said Saturday morning.
An elderly woman died in northern Alabama’s Madison County after a tornado hit her home, county coroner Dr. Tyler Berryhill told NPR.
