Apple Music Classical is getting an Android release soon

Apple Music Classical is published today on Apple’s own platform, but Android users who prefer orchestras can also enjoy it.

There’s no release date for Apple Music Classical on Android yet, but Apple says it will be available eventually.

“Apple Music Classical for Android is coming soon,” Apple said in a Newsroom post announcing the app’s arrival today.

This is good news for Android users who were enjoying the Primephonic classical music streaming service on their devices before the service was discontinued in 2021 by Apple’s acquisition.

Apple Music itself came to Android six months after it launched on iOS, making it one of the first Apple apps to launch on Android. So maybe the Android user will see Apple Music Classic around September this year?

The service finally hits the market as a standalone service for Apple Music subscribers and will no longer be available as a standalone subscription, even though it has its own app. It’s a little clunky in that respect.

But if you know Bach from Beethoven, Apple Music Classical offers 5 million songs with a special search feature built for classical music. There are also 700 playlists created by experts, with content arranged to accommodate experts and novices alike.

With all that in mind, it’s probably wise to start with a separate app. There are also some “intuitive browsing features” that Apple describes in its App Store listing.

All in all, it’s exciting to see Apple diversify its music offerings beyond popular music, embracing this category that spans far longer than the traditional history of popular music.
