ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Albuquerque fire department was extremely busy Saturday morning responding to two blazes.
One of them was in an abandoned building just off Zuni Road and San Mateo Boulevard around 9am Saturday morning.
Authorities say they contained everything in about 15 minutes and no injuries were reported.
In a second fire, the Albuquerque fire department found someone dead near the University of New Mexico, and Albuquerque police are also investigating.
“The fire brigade reported a lot of smoke coming from the structure. The structure was a duplex that the fire brigade was able to put out the fire quickly,” said AFR Chief Jeff Lucetti. rice field.
The Albuquerque fires responded to the cancellation of Silver Avenue and Stanford near the University of New Mexico around 7:30 Saturday morning.
Firefighters quickly put out the fire in the home, but the discovery inside raised more questions.
“But they found one civilian man inside. He was dead,” Ruscetti said.
AFR found a man dead inside the house. Albuquerque police are currently investigating the scene as a homicide.
AFR couldn’t do much to help the man after finding him.
“Nothing could have been done to save his life,” Lucetti said.
In a press release late Saturday morning, police said:
“The homicide unit was called for assistance due to personal injuries.”
The incident also affected another family who lived in the duplex, according to AFR.
“Since it was a duplex, there was another family. They were displaced and the AFR worked with the Red Cross to find housing for the evening or for the foreseeable future,” Ruscetti said. I was.
