Spotify for Artists introduces a new metric, Active Audience, to help you find and categorize your most engaged listeners.
Your Active Audience, now visible on Spotify for Artists, is the set of Spotify listeners who have actively streamed your music in the last 28 days. This can be displayed on the artist’s profile, albums or releases on her page, or on the listener’s own library or playlist.
Active streams are different from programmed streams that come from playlists created by Spotify, such as editorial playlists and personalized playlists. Both are important to an artist’s success, but active listeners are those who are most likely to show interest in you and listen to you again. Spotify says, “On average, people who actively stream songs will play that artist’s music four times more than hers in the next six months.”
Active Audience data is further broken down in Spotify for Artists based on the listener’s streaming history.
- Super Listener: The artist’s most engaged active listeners in the last 28 days. They’re also most likely to continue streaming music.
- Moderate Listener: Active listeners who have deliberately streamed an artist’s music multiple times in the last 28 days and are still potentially developing into super listeners.
- Light listener: Active listeners who have intentionally streamed the artist’s music 1-2 times in the last 28 days and who may develop into moderate listeners.
