USA Swimming Announces 5 Cities Dates for 2023 Make-A-Splash Tour
USA Swimming announced the dates and locations for its 2023 Make a Splash Tour on Tuesday.
Presented by Phillips 66, this tour runs May 1-3 in Houston. Lake Charles, Louisiana, May 4-5. May 14-16, St. Louis and Roxana, IL. and Billings, Montana, May 23-25. The 15th Annual Edition of the Tour includes USA Swimming Foundation Ambassadors. Roadie Gaines, Karen Jones and Elizabeth Weisel. The stop helps educate children, parents, and community leaders about the importance of swimming education and drowning prevention.
“The Make-A-Splash Tour is an important opportunity to speak out loud about the importance of learning to swim. CEO Tim Hinchey III said in a press release. “We thank Philips 66 for their continued support in our efforts to reach more communities and families across America with this important message.”

Drowning remains one of the leading causes of accidental death among young people. Up to 3,500 people drown each year in the United States, and a quarter of them are children under the age of 14. Drowning rates can be up to three times higher than national averages in ethnically diverse communities.
The Make-a-Splash Tour has been around since 2009 and is sponsored by Phillips 66. The company he partnered with USA Swimming in 1973.
The USA Swimming Foundation has added a partnership with US Maters Swimming for youth and adult swimming learning programs in 2021. Studies show that more than a third of Americans can’t swim the length of a pool safely, with only a 19% chance of doing so. Children of parents who don’t know how to swim learn how to swim.
