Electro-funk duo Chromeo have released their latest single, ‘Words With You’. This is the duo’s first release in almost five years. Check out the lyric video below.
“Words With You” was written and composed by David “Dave 1” Macklovitch and Patrick “P-Thugg” Gemayel and mixed by legendary New York producer Morgan Geist. In his statement, Maklovicch said: What’s New: From drums to bass to an array of synths, horn sections and live instruments play. Familiar things: Groove and tone, two traits we’ve been honing for almost 20 years. The idea was to create something that felt sophisticated and slick, with enough authority and wit to make you smile. It’s a balancing act that we thought a lot about… I hope it never shows up. In the years Chromeo hadn’t released any music, especially in 2020, the duo launched a number of funding rounds following the historically difficult events of 2020.They created a momentary EP inspired by lockdown Quarantine Casanova We raised over $150,000 donated to Know Your Rights Camp for COVID relief in the POC community. He then released a career-spanning live album in 2021. Date Night: Kuromio Live!raised over $50,000 for the Touring Professionals Alliance.
The duo also founded their own record label, Juliet Records, producing for artists such as Omar Apollo, Blue DeTiger and Rick Wilson. The duo will make his fifth appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival next month.
