A Texas woman’s job search stirs unexpectedly awkward emotions.
Austin’s Riley Jewett went viral on TikTok after claiming that a man who ghosted her six years ago was going to interview her for a barista position at a privately held company.
“Karma is the nastiest bitch I’ve ever met. Six years ago, when I was 19, I ghosted the nicest guy who had the best intentions for me.” Please tell me why he’s interviewing me for the job he desperately needs tomorrow.” The 25-year-old’s clip has over 8.4 million views since it was posted last week.
Jouett told The Post that he didn’t expect to see so many views. Based on my analysis of the video, her 80% of the viewers were in her teens. ”
Jouett created two follow-up videos in response to viewer comments. One of them, she claims, told her that it might be “awkward” for her ex-lover to interview her. She brushed off his concerns, saying, “She kissed him once on a date six years ago.”
Jewett claims she and an unidentified man are now in another relationship, but has previously ghosted him because he is “obsessed” with her and “very intense.” Admitted.
“I made the video because I felt that a lot of people had something to do with ghosting people during their teenage years, without thinking about the consequences of being immature or having poor communication skills. ‘” Jewett told The Post on Tuesday.
Many commentators suggested that she shouldn’t discuss the interview process publicly if she wants the job.
“Baby, it’s the king’s barista job. You think I’m going to shit? Jewett hit back. ‘$9 an hour and tip? Seriously now. I’m not working for King Elon Musk.” ”
“The only thing that bothers me is that this guy is a Scorpio, so I know he has a grudge,” she added.
Other TikTok users helped Jouett prepare for an awkward interview.
“Don’t say one of your strengths is communication,” advised one.
“Gaslight him. ‘It never happened,'” recommended another.
Even the official TikTok account shouted, “Good luck.”
And even more TikTokers refused to believe the pair shouldn’t be trying to rekindle the spark.
“Karma or Second Chance???” one hopeless romantic asked about the couple’s chances of reconnecting.
“Maybe it’s Cupid, not karma,” one wondered.
“A rom-com conspiracy,” proclaimed another. “If he invites you to his company retreat this weekend to see how you fit in, really just so he can get to know you again, let us know.” please.
Jouett told The Post that he eventually turned down the job offer.
“At the end of the interview, he offered me a barista position. I was offered a higher-paying position elsewhere, so I turned it down in the end,” she reveals. Did.
“He didn’t reply to my message declining the offer. As far as I know, he never saw the video.”
But many others watched the clip, and Jouett noted how many teenagers watched it.
“This means I can’t find a job, I don’t want to be homeless, and the only job I can do is sex work, with thousands of comments saying I’m ready to get It makes a lot of sense when you look at it. Get down on your knees,” she told the Post.
“There are so many horrible things I had to report after reading my own video.”
