(CNN) A strong earthquake hit northeastern Afghanistan on Tuesday, with tremors felt in cities in Pakistan and India.
According to the US Geological Survey, the 6.5-magnitude quake occurred 40 kilometers southeast of the town of Jurmu and had a depth of 187.6 kilometers.
At least seven people, including two children, were injured in the Pakistani towns of Khyber, Swabi, Mardan and Shangla, according to Bilal Faij, spokesman for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province rescue team.
The ensuing landslides have also blocked roads in the northern Pakistani city of Abbottabad, Faij said.
A strong tremor was felt in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, according to the local CNN team. A sustained tremor was felt and people were seen fleeing their homes as trees swayed. A witness in Lahore told CNN that the shaking was felt there as well.
