Former Super Furry Animals member new outfit Das Coolies has released his debut EP ‘The Condemned’.
The Welsh group of Huw Bunford, Cian Ciarán, Dafydd Ieuan and Guto Pryce have ushered in a new era with a new brand of electronica.
The collection includes the standout single ‘You Killed My Robot’, a tale of technology lost through human stupidity. We mourn and honor the drones that infiltrated and were so easily sacrificed.”
The quartet says:
Das Koolies first appeared in 2020 with the single “It’s All About The Dolphins”.
According to a press release, the group’s “origins lie in the ’90s, with half a year between chapters, and have been the subject of rumors ever since.”
The Super Furry Animals are the band that popularized the sound of Sir Paul McCartney munching on celery and carrots.
The rock band teamed up with the Beatles legends on their 2001 track “Receptacle For The Respectable,” which will be included on the 20th anniversary reissue of their album “Rings Around The World,” released in 2021.
At the 2000 NME Awards, the Gruffs ran into the 80-year-old music icon, where he accepted a bizarre request to play “carrots and celery” percussion on the song.
Fans can also listen to a full 60-second crunch cameo by Macca on YouTube. This is ideal for ASMR enthusiasts.
Keyboardist Cyan commented: She has a really dangerous Welsh accent. Then he says, ‘I hope you like it,’ and then you just hear him chew!”
