In a joint statement, Spotify and the couple announced that they had “both agreed to part ways.”
According to the BBC, Spotify has confirmed that Meghan Markle’s podcast, Archetypes, will not be updated. It was part of a contract worth an estimated $25 million.
Archetype, which Harry described as bringing in “various perspectives and voices you’ve probably never heard before,” will air for 12 episodes beginning in August 2022.
After the podcast won a People’s Choice award last year, Meghan said, “I loved sitting in bed late at night, writing and being creative and getting my hands on the process.”
“And I loved delving into meaningful conversations with diverse and inspiring guests, laughing and learning together. It was such a loving job.”
The Wall Street Journal quoted a spokesperson for Ashwell, the company founded by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as saying that Meghan “continues to develop more content for archetype audiences on other platforms. ‘ said.
The royal couple will not receive the full amount of the deal because they do not meet the productivity benchmarks required by Spotify, according to the paper.
The deal with Spotify was one of several deals the couple signed following their decision to step down from their role as the reigning royal family. They also have a deal worth $100 million with Netflix.
