The Voice’s current coach and former One Direction member Niall Horan will release his third studio album, The Show, on June 9, 2023. This album was born inspired by love in lockdown. The Irish singer-songwriter, best known as a member of world-famous boy band One Direction, began his long musical journey by auditioning for The Band. 2010’s X Factor. Like others around the world, the pandemic has had a huge impact on Niall, giving him time to just sit back and take it all in for the first time in over a decade. This is what gave birth to a new album like him. “I could sit still for probably the first time in ten years,” he said. Horan came up with the rest of the record after coming up with the title track for “The Show”. He said writing the title track was “the catalyst” for the writing and producing process for his third studio album.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Horan explained, “The chorus says we should be grateful for what we have.” He added, “During the pandemic, I think we lost a little bit of the control that we want as humans. It triggered so many big thoughts in my head. A stream of ideas was born. But despite some speculation by fans, none of those big thoughts were inspired by heartbreak. Horan said, “I don’t think anyone who comes here looking for a heartbreak love song can sing it here.” That’s the big difference between Horan’s “more mature” latest work and his previous work, he says.

Horan said in an interview that the album will have 10 songs, with the hope that “when people get to 10 songs, I want to go back to the top and hear the first song again.” Of the 10 songs, Niall says ‘You Could Start a Cult’ is his favourite. Or “The Show.” Probably “The Show.” The singer also announced that ‘The Show: Live on Tour’ will be a 50-day journey through Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand from February to July next year.
