Los Angeles-based Cambodian-American rock band Dengue announces release of new album Mr Tin. T.The group’s sixth studio album is set to be released on September 15, 2023, and the release will mark the 20th anniversary of the group’s 2003 self-titled debut.
In a press release, band bassist Senon Williams said of the album: Mr. Ting, but we broke the rules we made for ourselves on our last album. The song’s sole purpose was to elevate lead singer Chom Nimol’s voice. Our mood, or perhaps the mood of the world, made us focus on the sublime or the melancholy. We intentionally left our frenzied energy and noise yesterday. “
The album title is Tin Mong Refers to a mannequin/decoy doll used in Khmer folklore to ward off evil spirits. The band’s last album was 2015’s Project, deepest lakethe pace of this upcoming album was described in a press release as “a slower, longer, psychedelic jam”.
In conjunction with the album announcement, the band recently released the single “Touch Me Not”. This latest track highlights the unique and hypnotic vocals of the group’s vocalist Chom Nimol, her voice paired with soft, slow rock folk instruments. The single is paired with a video that takes place in the desert, depicting a sense of isolation and tranquility, perfectly matching the calm yet melancholic vibe of the track.
In addition to playing shows across Southern California in support of the album, the band will play shows throughout North America and abroad from this year through 2024, with tour dates to be announced soon.
