University Park, Pennsylvania – As the Baja Mar Hoops announced Thursday, the dates, times and opponents for the exhibition games of the Penn State men’s basketball team’s overseas tour to the Bahamas in August have been finalized.
The Nittany Lions will play international and two games as part of the 2023 Baja Mar Hoops Summer League at the Baja Mar Convention Center during Pennsylvania State’s trip to the Bahamas Aug. 6-13 .
Penn State will begin an exhibition game against the Bahamas national team on Tuesday, August 8 at 7:00 pm ET. The Nittany Lions will then play the University of Victoria (Canada) on Thursday, August 10 at 4:30 pm ET.
Every four years, NCAA basketball teams are allowed to tour overseas to play an exhibition game. The Nittany Lions last toured abroad in 2017 in the Bahamas and in 2013 in Belgium, France and England.
Penn State is finishing the 2022-23 season with the Nittany Lions finishing 23-14 overall and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The 2023-24 season will be the first season under donating head coaches Peter & Ann Tombros Mike Rhodescame to Happy Valley after six wildly successful years at VCU.
The Baja Mar Hoop Summer League, operated by Lexington-based event marketing company bdG Sports, manages over 20 games in Baja Mar each November. Nittany Lions participates in a joint effort with bdG Sports and Global Sports and Events (GSE).
