They are also on tour for two months.
The Drums are back with new singles from Kyosei, ‘Plastic Envelope’ and ‘Protect Him Always’, ahead of their summer 2023 tour.
Founding member Johnny Pierce is particularly vulnerable on these tracks, diving into introspection as guitars dance in the background. These songs provide an outlet for Pierce to “embrace and nurture each version of his younger self.” “He only deserves flowers/I’m recovering as soon as I can, I’m so sorry,” he affirms in “Protect Him.” everytime. “
“‘Plastic Envelope’ is about the pain of having a trust betrayed and the fear of not knowing if you’ll ever open up like that again,” Pierce said in a press release. “The second track, ‘Protect Him Always,’ is an apology to the boy in me who knows that when I get hurt, I get hurt again, and I’m trying my best to protect it.”
The Drums will perform the new material live for the first time on their North American tour, which will begin July 12th in San Diego, tour major cities across the United States and Canada, and conclude August 18th in San Francisco.
