Yule Signed to Ninja Tune and shared their first single from the label, ‘sulky baby’.The song is also the first release of the year following 2022’s fantastic LP glitch princessAn anthem to ’00s alternative rock and shoegaze, “sulky baby” shines with Yule’s whispers and tender guitars. Yule says:
“Sulky Baby” was a sad satire on a hybrid of 2000s alternative rock and shoegaze. I felt like I was talking to a younger version of her myself, and I felt like I needed to go back in time and satisfy what she was starving because I couldn’t protect her. so that she can come back to me. She also makes her laugh like a child. The song very vividly describes the depression I felt with an almost burning passion, but I tried to keep it lighthearted in tone. I don’t think being romantic is necessarily a bad thing. It helps to do this from time to time while dealing with repressed memories. Do you call it a beneficial delusion? Sometimes it’s the only way I can remember the parts of me I don’t want to remember. That way she can rest and heal. Her mother used to tell her when she was a child not to get cranky all the time. I think that’s why being moody is so special to me.
