Spotify is launching a new integration with BeReal that allows users to include what they are listening to on Spotify in their BeReal posts. BeReal encourages users to take pictures with the front and rear cameras at random times each day to show an authentic version of themselves. Spotify says the integration with the company adds another layer of authenticity to its daily posts.
You can connect your Spotify and BeReal accounts by tapping the music icon that appears before you post BeReal.Or go to BeReal app settings[音楽]You can also tap and follow the prompts to connect the app to Spotify.
Once your accounts are connected, the songs and podcasts you’re listening to on Spotify will automatically populate the app when you capture BeReal. At the bottom of the camera lens, you’ll see the cover art of the audio you’re listening to. If your friend’s post includes audio, you can hear a preview of what your friend has shared.
“Spotify was made for everyday inspiration, discovery and interactive moments. We also create playlists for everyday life,” Spotify wrote in a blog post. “BeReal is designed to capture the true moments of your daily life and share them with your closest friends. Combining Spotify audio with his BeReal gives you a real personalization and another way to connect to BeReal. layer will be added.”
Starting today, the integration will be accessible to BeReal and Spotify users on Android and iOS in select markets, including Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia and the United States. The two companies plan to bring this integration to more countries in the future.
The integration comes at a time when the hype around BeReal has slowed significantly. According to analytics firm Apptopia, the number of people using the app daily has dropped 61% from its peak, from about 15 million in October to less than 6 million in March.
Photo-sharing apps have been hugely popular over the last year, taking social media by storm with a bid to give users a more authentic photo feed compared to the curated aesthetic found on Instagram. The app’s success has made major social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat desperate to replicate the app within their products to capitalize on its popularity.
BeReal’s new integration with Spotify isn’t likely to be a big tipping point for the company, but it could bring current loyal users to engage with the app in new ways. Unlike other popular apps, BeReal does not regularly update with new features and offers a very simple product, so adding new features rooted in credibility is a welcome change for users.
