(CNN) According to an affidavit, a Texas man charged in connection with the January 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol was called by law enforcement last week when he arrived at his Dallas-area home for a welfare check. I shot the officer.

According to the affidavit, Pelham’s father called law enforcement on April 12 to warn him that his son had a gun and was threatening to commit suicide. That same day, an FBI agent called Pelham to inform him of an arrest warrant related to the rioting charges, and Pelham agreed to appear the following week.
According to the affidavit, after police arrived at Pelham’s home and spoke to neighbors, they saw a girl, Pelham’s daughter, leaving the house and being put into a police car for safety.
Afterwards, sheriff’s office officials heard gunshots coming from inside the house, the affidavit said.
“Deputy JW reported that gunshots spread in time and were not directed at HCSO personnel,” the agent wrote. “At approximately 9:38 p.m., Pelham’s father arrived on the scene. heard another gunshot and reported that “the bullet in this gunshot came very close to me and I heard a distinct whistling sound as the bullet passed by me.” Then hit my right side with a metal object. ”
According to the affidavit, the stalemate lasted until shortly after midnight when law enforcement left without arresting Pelham. Pelham was arrested on Tuesday, according to online court records.
