However, they are not only eager to act together, but also plan to work together as close business partners in the near future. Last fall, the duo announced that he and Gerry Cardinale had launched an independent creator-focused production company, Artists Equity.
“The Last Duel” reminded Affleck of how fruitful their collaboration could be, he told Simmons. So we decided to work together and work together and think about what kind of career they want to pursue.

Damon believes he would have squashed Affleck’s role in ‘Argo’
Although the two friends have written and acted together before, Affleck had never directed Damon in a film until “Air.” Simmons asked Damon if he ever wondered why Affleck hadn’t cast him in the last four films he directed. He said he was not asked to appear in the 2012 Best Picture-winning film Argo, joking that he could have landed the lead role in the latter film instead of Affleck.
“I could have crushed the lead in that movie, but he took it upon himself,” Damon quipped.
Affleck replied:
Simmons then wondered why Damon didn’t appear in “The Town.” According to Affleck, it wasn’t an affordable option. I invited you.
“At the time, I was doing a bone run,” Damon said.
Affleck Admits ‘Sad Affleck’ Without Naming Meme
Affleck told Simmons about the difficulties of being a tabloid fixture early in his career, and even now his mundane moves like picking up Dunkin’ orders and taking out the trash are the hallmarks of the world. It’s been photographed so you can see the inside.
Damon pointed to the frenzy surrounding Affleck and his first wife, Jennifer Garner, and said he was lucky not to receive the same amount of paparazzi attention compared to Affleck.
Affleck clarified the misconception that celebrities want that kind of exposure and often they try to hide it. He then spoke about his own experiences with the paparazzi.
“One of the reasons people always think I look sad or angry is because the pictures you see are self-selected,” Affleck said. “You can only see me when I’m standing there with my kids and five guys are following me and yelling something. It brings you unhappy feelings.” “
Affleck is known not only for his interviews and award ceremonies, but for his sad look that often appears in paparazzi photos. His desperation consistency is known as the “Sad Affleck” or “Sadfleck” meme.Affleck wasn’t named in the podcast episode, but he’s spoken about it in the past.
Damon and Affleck shared a bank account in high school
Damon and Affleck, aspiring actors, were so encouraging to each other that they confided in Simmons that they shared a bank account in high school.
“It was unusual, but … I needed money for auditions and trips to New York, so that’s what the money was for,” Damon said.
However, Damon admitted that at times the money was spent on recreational activities such as playing video games and trying to buy alcohol.
Sharing accounts may have been an odd choice, but the decision was born out of mutual support. The attitude was, “Let’s go together,” Affleck said.
Damon and Affleck look back on living together as young actors
In addition to sharing funds, Damon and Affleck lived together early in their careers. Simmons asked her two what they were most annoyed about with each other so far. Affleck denied sharing, but revealed that Damon was neglecting household chores.
“I remember Casey and I were in Somerville one time and we thought we’d see how long he could go. [without taking out the trash]’ said Affleck.
Apparently, the Affleck brothers stopped picking up trash to see if Damon would notice.
Casting Viola Davis on ‘Air’ made Affleck feel like a successful director
The prospect of working with Damon was exciting for Affleck, but when he got to talk to Michael Jordan, Affleck said the film became meaningful. It’s an Air Jordan concept, not an iconic athlete biopic. Affleck said he was not going to go ahead with the film unless Jordan gave him his approval, and asked for Jordan’s opinion on the storyline, with Jordan wanting Viola Davis to play his mother and several others. gave the insight of
“The joke we have is like saying we want Michael Jordan on the basketball team,” Damon said.
But it worked, and Davis played Deloris Jordan in the movie. Directing Davis was “a lifelong dream,” Affleck said. “I thought it meant something to me. I made it. An important and talented actor trusted me to perform.”
Just as the two had to beef up the “Good Will Hunting” script to get the Robin Williams they spoke to in the episode, they knew the part would appeal to Davis. I had to make sure.
Affleck said he told the EGOT winners: Come help us out and use your voice and experience to make this better. “
“AIR” will be released in theaters on April 5th.
