Perdue said he has spoken to UGA President Jere Morehead about the situation.
“We have advocated transparency and honesty, and I think there is probably room there to enhance the cultural reputation of our sports program. We are doing it,” Perdue said.
He declined to elaborate.
“Better not say that here,” Perdue said. “But think again. We want moms and dads to be really happy sending their athletes to the University of Georgia.”
About collaboration with teachers
“I was pleasantly surprised by the relationship with the department,” said Perdue, who said he was speaking openly with professors. “Even if you don’t agree with the overall final policy, if you feel the process is fair, you respect shared governance that respects your opinions.”
He added: It takes government to manage and direct some things, but it’s really the educators in the classroom that make the university. “
Recruitment of President
“My main job is to get the best leaders at these institutions.
He believes in “cultivating your own leader.” That means getting promoted from within the university system when it makes sense.
Perdue said there are places for nationwide searches, especially if a presidential vacancy becomes available at one of the state’s top research universities.

The Board appoints the Prime Minister and the Governor appoints the 19-member Board.. Purdue says he got interested in the job after a conversation with Kemp after former Prime Minister Steve Wrigley announced his plans to retire.
“I talk to him as needed,” Purdue said of Kemp. “We thought he probably wouldn’t talk for three or four weeks, but then he could talk two or three times a week.”
Kemp requested state funding for a new electronic medical records system at the Medical College of Georgia, part of Augusta University. The State Board recently approved an agreement for Wellstar Health System to fund and manage the AU Health System.
“He charged me with educating my children to reach their full potential,” Purdue said.
Literacy education
A Georgia State University of Education must be a “teaching hub.” Graduates who become elementary school teachers should be ready to teach children how to read by the third grade, Perdue said.
“We are the largest supplier of educators in Georgia and it starts there. We want to make sure our teaching colleges produce students who really know about the science of reading. Thinks. “That’s the basics. When we educate educators, it should be our aim to help young people understand the concepts of language and reading.”
