49 Winchester To support the group’s acclaimed New West Records debut, they’ve announced a new batch of summer tour dates. Fortune favors the boldThe June-September tour includes appearances in major cities such as Minneapolis and Chicago, as well as appearances at the Railbird Music Festival (Lexington, Kentucky), Under the Big Sky Festival (Whitefish, Montana), and Born & Raised Music. includes the debut performance of Attended a festival (Prior, Oklahoma) before the group embarked on its first European tour in direct support of Luke Combs.
Released in 2022, Fortune Favors the Bold rapidly spawned over 40 million global streams and over 17 million global streams in a single ‘Russell County Line’. The band has also been named Spotify’s “2023 Hot Country Artists to Watch” and Apple Music’s “2022 Country Riser”. Fortune Favors the Bold debuted at #7 on the Billboard Top New Artists chart, #7 on the Billboard Current Country chart, and #10 on the Billboard Folk Americana chart.
Rolling Stone magazine received critical acclaim, calling 49 Winchester “country music’s most talked-about buzz band” and naming the album one of its “25 Best Country and Americana Albums of 2022.” Bandcamp named Fortune Favors the Bold one of his “Best Country Records of 2022”, along with No Depression, Holler, PopMatters, Whiskey Riff, WMOT, and more.
49 Winchester has steadily become a must-see live act. The band recently debuted in London at C2C: Country to Country Music Festival where he joined the likes of Zac Brown Band and Midland. They will return for his second appearance on the historic Grand Ole Opry stage, making his stagecoach debut in April. In September, the band also returned to the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, solidifying their status as fan favorites each year. See all dates below.
Formed on Winchester Street in the small mountain town of Castlewood, Virginia (population: 2,045), 49 Winchester began as a group of neighborhood teenage friends on a calculated DIY path. In 2014 they independently released their eponymous debut, followed by 2018’s The Wind and his 2020’s Celebration III. Looking back to his early days as a jack-of-all-trades mason and trying to make ends meet to keep the band going, frontman Gibson can’t help but be grateful for the well-earned money. A concept at the heart of the band’s ethos — everything worth living is built brick by brick. “You have to build everything, and very few people do it overnight,” says Gibson. “We didn’t start out as a bunch of Nashville hot shot pickers. We started on the ground floor — very basic songwriting and instrumentation. We kept going, always making progress on what we wanted to do and how we wanted to sound — each song was better than the last, and tonight’s show was better than last night.”
