SHREBY, N.C. — Three teenagers died after a police chase ended in a crash in Shelby around 1:07 am Sunday, Channel 9 said.
In Cherokee, South Carolina, someone driving away from an open-air rally called 911 saying people were shooting at his car, agents said. Police said the caller was a passenger in a car that was fired upon by a suspicious truck she was pursuing, she said.
The truck with the shooting then entered Cleveland County. Officers began chasing the truck on Sulfur Springs Road and nearly overtook it as it was speeding.
After the sheriff lost track of the car, he noticed it crashed into a house at the intersection of DeKalb and Suttle Streets. No one was injured in the house.

The teenagers died at the scene, a representative told Channel 9.
“Considering that the suspects pursued the victim relentlessly and opened fire, it is a miracle that the occupants of the victim’s vehicle were not injured. I’m proud to have worked on it,” said Sheriff Alan Norman.
Channel 9 is working to get more information on tracking and will provide updates as they become available.
