BUFFALO, NY — Listen, I’m proud to be Irish and I love Irish music. Again, and I’d rather hear a great selection of different styles.
My goal was to create the perfect 3-hour playlist that mixes everything from old-school standards to today’s chart-topping artists. Whether you’re at work or in the pub, this mix will get you in the mood for St. Patrick’s Day.
All songs are uptempo, except for three Irish standards.
My mix has: traditional jigs and ‘reels’, perfect for Irish dancing.
An upbeat Irish classic pub song that’s even better with a beer in hand.
Uptempo Gaelic-influenced jams from North American artists (such as Bruce Springsteen and The Great Big Sea) and British artists such as Ed Sheehan and Mumford & Sons.
Ireland’s hidden gem. Deafening originals and Irish-flavoured covers of famous hits.
Artist from Ireland. From the obvious like U2 and The Cranberries to more contemporary chart toppers like Snow Patrol and Niall Horan.
Standards – “Danny Boy” sung by Johnny Cash, two songs written by Chauncey Alcott of Buffalo, “Irish Eyes a Smile” and “My Wild Irish Rose”
Thanks to fellow Irishman Pete Gallivan for some great recommendations.
The final song list is just over 3 hours long and perfect for adding some St. Patrick’s Day vibes to your party, pub, or office. “Little Lion Man” contains some profanity, so skip it if you have kids.
fun! I “worked” hard for this choice! Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
