Two people have died and several others require immediate medical attention, according to Uvalde Police Chief Daniel Rodriguez.
Around 3:50 p.m. Friday, emergency services received a 911 call from a non-working number saying several people were trapped inside the train.
Rodriguez said it’s unclear who reported it, but it may have come from a train.
Border Patrol officers were notified and inspected the train at a regular stop two to three miles from Knippa, Rodriguez said.
Two people were found dead and many others unresponsive, according to the Uvalde PD chief.
At least five medical helicopters carried patients to local hospitals.
Rodriguez said several ambulances also arrived on the scene to help transport patients.
University Health of San Antonio has confirmed to KSAT that it has airlifted at least two male patients from the scene.

The exact condition of those rescued is unknown, but Rodriguez said many were likely dehydrated due to the heat on the train and the current high temperatures.
The temperature in the area was 87°F at 3:55pm according to the nearest official reporting station
“It’s sad that so many illegal immigrants have been found in this condition and two of them have lost their lives. It’s heartbreaking,” Rodriguez said.
